Friday Rally Point: A&W Root Beer in Gila Bend, AZ. We decided that this would be the best since some of you will be coming from the North and West side of town and others from the South and East, plus Tucson. We plan to meet Friday 9/5 at 9:00 AM at the A&W. We will depart the A&W at 9:30 AM..

I have a block of rooms reserved in San Diego under Desert Z Association. Call the hotel directly to reserve your room. Just mention you are with Desert Z Association. If you have any issues, ask for Laura in Group Sales. The cut off date for room reservations is Friday, August 15th.

Events Planned for the weekend:

Friday: Our Friday night Meet ‘n Greet is set for 7:00 PM at the Mission Valley Mall. We will meet at the Seau's Restaurant end of the mall. It is about 2 miles from the hotel. The Fashion Valley Mall is a nicer mall nearby but it does not have the parking that this area at Mission Valley Mall has.

Here is a map from the hotel to Seau's Restaurant. It's not Denny's cheap but has very good food. It's a very popular sports bar. If Seau’s is busy, there is also an Outback and a Ruby's Diner inside the mall. Need to remind everyone that the evenings in San Diego can be cool (to us it will be freezing!) so bring a sweater or light jacket.

Saturday:  Tour of the USS Midway Museum.  Tours start at 10:00 AM.  Here is the USS Midway advance ticket purchase website: https://ussmidway.cygnus.com/store.jsp#ceShop.  Here is the USS Midway main page:  www.midway.org.  I would recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.

Saturday night: San Diego Harbor Excursion dinner cruise.  Here is the website:  www.sdhe.com.  Click on dinner cruises to make your reservations.  When you make your reservations, tell them you are with Desert Z Association.  This will ensure we all sit together.  There are several different packages to choose from.  I was told that if you pay the gratuity in advance, you actually save money.  Cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance.  The cut off date for dinner reservations is Friday, August 15th.

Sunday: Return home.  Departure time will be determined Saturday.

This should be a very good weekend with planned events and some free time for yourselves.
