  • Trip leaves from the McDonalds at Carefree Highway and I-17 at 10:00 AM sharp on Saturday November 26th 2016. Please plan to arrive there at 9:30 AM.
  • Take Carefree Highway West from the McDonalds at I-17 till it intersects Highway 60, which is Grand Avenue (36 miles).
  • Turn right on Highway 60 towards Wickenburg and continue to the 93 junction in Wickenburg (11 miles).
  • Take Highway 93, heading Northwest till reaching the 97 junction (46 miles).
  • At the 97 junction, turn right, staying on Highway 97 till meeting Highway 96 (16 miles).
  • Turn left at the 96 junction and continue to Bagdad for lunch (4 miles).

(Drive time from McDonalds to Bagdad is 1 hour 40 minutes – 2 hours)

LUNCH IN BAGDAD AT “THE DINER ON MAIN” (12:00-1:30)

  • Leaving Bagdad, take Highway 96 East to the village of Kirkland (35 miles), continuing past the village till intersecting Highway 89 (4 miles).
  • At Highway 89, turn right (South) and continue past Peoples, Valley, Yarnell and Congress, till intersecting again with Highway 93 (31 miles).
  • There are two optional short stops at a gas station/party store outside People’s Valley and a scenic pull-out,  just past Yarnell, before heading down the hill to Highway 93
  • From here, the trip returns the same way, to McDonalds at I-17 (53 miles) or head home from Wickenburg .

Warning: Though this is a great route for driving enthusiasts, please be very careful and stay within your capabilities. There are many areas on this route with limited visibility, sharp drop offs and tight turns. Remember it may not be you who causes the accident, it may be someone less accomplished as a driver, coming from the opposite direction. Please be safe!
